In an article by Nathan Pompkins, it is said that "physical appearance affects the environment that in turn affects personality." For our generation physical appearance is at the top of most people's lists. In many cases, girls' lists. Physical appearance can affect your self-esteem, happiness, the people you surround yourself with, and sometimes your success. Also, "Good-looking children are treated as social superiors, because in society, stereotype dictates that popular people are good looking. Conversely, children who are deemed to be not as attractive are often treated as inferior to the other children." Statements like that ring true for many people, even when you click on the television.
A lot of this article rings true for me. From when I was born, up until third grade I always was in the popular group, and I hung out with all the pretty girls, and I was "in." As I grew up I really started to develop baby fat, almost thirty pounds of it. In middle school it was really hard not to sit at the lunch table with pretty girls, and I realized how mean girls can be. I learned the hard way how much physical appearance really does matter. It's sickening.
