In an article by Matina Pageais, she agrees that music plays a huge role on the development of children. Not only is it proven that mathematics, literature, and science are entwined in music, but it provides an emotional, expressive outlet for children and adults alike all across the world. "The melody appeals to the mathematical mind because of its' orderly structure.. it excersises the memory, the imagination, and develops concentration." Most importantly of all, "music takes over where words leave off." Music and art are the most important, and sometimes the only way a person can express feelings.
I agree with this article wholeheartedly. I have been playing music for almost 6 years, and I wouldn't trade music for anything in the world. It's the most innovative, and simple way for me to express how I feel without having to say anything. I can pick up my guitar, or my oboe for that matter and play. I don't have to worry about my sociology project that's due in 7 hours, or about the guy down the street. I can play, and I can give people a taste of what I'm thinking and feeling. Music has no language, and everyone loves music.
