My mom, Susan Katherine Gasman (now Kornely), was born on October 8, 1956 to Harvey and Alma Gasman. She was the last of seven children born to the German couple. She grew up in Escanaba, Michigan, about 3 hours from here. Oddly enough, there are a lot of ties to Manitowoc with Escanaba. Since her family lives so far away, I never really got to know them. Since my mom was the "baby" of the family, she learned a lot from her older siblings.  By the time she was out of diapers, her older sister was already married and out of the house. Her father died of multiple myloma when she was 3 years old. She traveled all over with her mom, to places like.... Shortly after she graduated from Highschool, she left with Aunty Dubs, and Krissy Peterson and moved here, to Two Rivers. She met my father at Hamiltons and in 1982 they married and gave birth to my brother Brian. Since then, my parents have moved  into the house where I was born and have never left. They run their own bar and have done so for the past 18 years. In a few short years both my brother and I will be out of the house and they'll be "free" to do what they want. As a teenager, I know I must cause my mom a lot of heartache and I try and give them thanks for everything they've done for me, and for my family.
