My dad, Francis James Kornely, was born on July 15th, 1949 to James and Cecilia Kornely. He was the first of seven children born to the Polish couple. He grew up in a small house near Koenig school in Two Rivers, and attended some of the same schools that I have. Often times he remenisces about his years at Washington High School as a member of the track team, and a participant of many other school sponsored clubs. Being a first-born he learned to be responsible at an early age. His youngest sibling was born when he was 16, so he had already had a lot of experience in babysitting. He married his first wife, Mary, when he was 19 and divorced shortly after. His family was prominantly Catholic, and this divorce was looked down upon. 14 years later, in 1982 he both married my mother, and became a father. Since then my parents have moved into the house where I was born and have never left. They run their own bar and have done so for the past 18 years. In a few short years both my brother and I will be out of the house and they'll be "free" to do what they want. Although my father says we've grown up too fast, I think there is a part of him that can't wait for retired life.
